Peppermint Spa Salts
Know someone who would like a nice spa treatment at home? Here's a beautiful and thoughtful present that you can make in minutes.
We used large spice shakers so that the bath salts could be poured or sprinkled in the tub.
NOTE: DON'T get the peppermint oil in your eyes. It's very strong and can burn.
Makes 3 8-ounce bath salts
You'll need:
- 4 cups of Epsom Salt
- 1 cup of rock salt
- Green food coloring
- Peppermint oil (not extract!)
- 3 8-ounce plastic jars
- Ribbon
- 6 candy canes
- A little adult help
Equipment:
- Measuring cups
- A big spoon
- Two large bowls
- A funnel
- Scissors
- A stapler
- Measure the salts into one bowl.
- Add 10 drops of peppermint oil. The more oil the stronger the smell. The whole house smelled like peppermint when Livvy got done.
- Mix well.
- Now pour half the salt into the empty bowl.
- Add about 10 drops of food color to one bowl and mix.
If you want the green to be a little darker add another 5 drops or so. Don't get carried away or you'll turn the person using the bath salts green as well.
- Put the funnel into the mouth of one of your jars. Pour in a layer of green salt then a layer of white until the stripes reach the top.
- Put the lid on and wrap a ribbon around it.
- Staple two candy canes together and pass the ribbon through before you tie a nice bow.
- Repeat with the other two jars. You'll have three refreshing gifts to give special people on your gift list.
